About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage mental health disorders in elderly patients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including cognitive and functional assessments.
- Manage patients with dementia, delirium, depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and other age-related psychiatric conditions.
- Provide consultation and support to multidisciplinary teams regarding the psychiatric care of older adults.
- Participate in family meetings and provide guidance to caregivers regarding treatment plans and ongoing care.
- Collaborate with geriatric medicine, neurology, internal medicine, rehabilitation, and community healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and allied healthcare professionals where applicable.
- Contribute to clinical research, education, and professional development activities.
- Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

- Existing DOH License as Consultant Psychiatrist is preferred.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Education
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Training Program.
- Fellowship, Board Certification, or equivalent qualification in Psychiatry.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years post-specialization experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist, preferably with significant experience in Geriatric or Old Age Psychiatry.
- Experience managing complex psychiatric conditions in elderly populations.
- Experience in multidisciplinary and hospital-based mental health services preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship or subspecialty training in Geriatric Psychiatry / Old Age Psychiatry.
- Experience in dementia care, cognitive disorders, and neuropsychiatry.
- Leadership and service development experience is an advantage.
