About the role
The Legal & Company Secretarial Officer provides legal and corporate governance support to Abu Dhabi Airports under the supervision of the Legal Department. The role assists in interpreting UAE laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements, supporting legal and regulatory matters, and maintaining statutory records and corporate documentation. The position works closely with internal stakeholders, external legal advisors, government authorities, and regulators to support the organization's commercial and operational objectives while managing legal and compliance risks.
Responsibilities
Legal Support
- Provide legal assistance to the Legal Department in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support the interpretation of UAE and Abu Dhabi laws, regulations, and court judgments.
- Conduct legal research and maintain administrative systems to support research activities.
- Gather, organize, and analyze information related to legal matters and cases.
- Prepare submissions and coordinate with government authorities and courts on legal matters.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the organization.
- Assist in developing and implementing compliance strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure legal documentation complies with delegated authority requirements.
- Support policy reviews, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in preparing periodic departmental reports and identifying corrective actions for compliance issues.
Corporate Governance
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements, company laws, and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain statutory registers, governance records, licenses, and corporate documentation.
- Monitor filing deadlines and manage regulatory and statutory submissions.
Corporate Records Management
- Maintain corporate records and constitutional documents.
- Ensure proper archiving and retention of governance documentation.
- Manage document execution processes and records of authorized signatories.
Regulatory and Legal Compliance
- Support the implementation and monitoring of regulatory requirements.
- Assist with internal compliance reviews and governance assessments.
- Liaise with regulators, government authorities, external counsel, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries and legal requests.
Entity Management
- Support incorporation, licensing, renewals, amendments, and dissolution of corporate entities.
- Maintain oversight of the corporate structure and organizational changes.
- Coordinate entity management activities with internal and external stakeholders.
Policy and Governance Support
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing governance policies, charters, and procedures.
- Promote governance best practices across the organization.
- Provide administrative support for governance and compliance initiatives.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with executive management, business units, regulators, and external advisors.
- Ensure timely communication of governance-related information.
Reporting
- Prepare governance reports.
- Monitor governance KPIs and maintain governance dashboards.
HSE Responsibilities
- Comply with all HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-conformities.
- Participate in mandatory HSE training and support safe work practices.
Other Duties
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Line Manager to support divisional objectives.
Requirements and Skills
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Law or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Business, Management, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in company secretarial, paralegal, legal, or related functions.
- Experience or internship exposure within aviation, legal, or related industries is an advantage.
