Do I need ILOE insurance?
ILOE is the UAE's job-loss insurance. Most workers must have it — and many get a fine because nobody told them. Answer 3 quick questions.
ILOE in plain words
Who must subscribe to ILOE in the UAE?
Employees in the private sector and the federal government who work under an employment contract with a valid work permit. Domestic workers, business owners/investors, people under 18 and retirees receiving a pension are exempt.
How much does ILOE cost?
AED 5 a month (AED 60 a year) if your basic salary is AED 16,000 or less, and AED 10 a month (AED 120 a year) if it is more.
What is the fine for not subscribing to ILOE?
AED 400 for not subscribing in time, plus AED 200 for every extra month you stay unsubscribed. It is checked when your work permit is renewed.
How much does ILOE pay if I lose my job?
60% of your average basic salary for up to 3 months — up to AED 10,000 a month (salary up to AED 16,000) or AED 20,000 a month (above AED 16,000). Payment stops once you start a new job.
